This folder contains correspondence from Edison to Frank A. Hanaford, his partner in his stock reporting business in Boston. Also included is an agreement with Ebenezer Baker Welch, a commission merchant who provided Edison with funds to experiment with fire alarm telegraphs, dial telegraph instruments, and a new form of double transmitter during his year in Boston. In addition, there is a photocopy of a one-page advertisement by Pope, Edison & Co. This New York City company was formed by Edison, Franklin Pope, and James Ashley in the fall of 1869 to lease private telegraph lines to businessmen.
