This folder contains correspondence requesting Edison to write articles, letters from journalists seeking to interview Edison or soliciting his statements for publication, and other documents relating to articles by or about Edison and his inventions. Many of the letters bear marginalia by Edison. Included is an undated document in Edison's hand containing his opinion on the European war. There are also letters concerning Edison's attitude toward Germans and Jews. The correspondents include Herman Bernstein of The Day, Joe Mitchell Chapple of the National Magazine, Charles A. Coffin of the General Electric Co., Herbert L. Satterlee, son-in-law and biographer of J. P. Morgan, Jacob H. Schiff of Kuhn, Loeb & Co., and Oswald Garrison Villard of the New York Post.
Less than 10 percent of the documents have been selected. The unselected material consists of items that received a perfunctory response or no reply from Edison. Courtesy of Thomas Edison National Historical Park.
