The six notebooks in this group cover the period April-June 1902. The first book contains notes by William A. Warren regarding the production of alloys for use in various projects, including storage battery electrodes and fluorescent lamps. Near the end of the book are entries pertaining to a coherer transmitter for wireless telephones using carbon granules. The other books contain listings by Edison of the alloys to be fused, along with occasional entries by Warren and Henry S. Harris noting the results.
Only the first book, N-02-04-12, has been selected in its entirety. It contains test results of the alloys listed by Edison in the five other books. In addition, approximately 50 percent of N-02-04-18.2 has been selected to exemplify Edison's involvement in the tests.
