This notebook was used by Edison and Absalom M. Kennedy, probably during 1916, for notes on experiments relating to violins and violin strings. The early entries (experiments 1-31) include numerous comments by Edison, particularly on the loudness of the recordings. The remaining entries (experiments 32-176) simply list the instrument or string and provide no comments; these have not been selected. The front cover is labeled "Tests of Musical Instruments and parts." The pages are unnumbered. Approximately 65 pages have been used. Courtesy of Thomas Edison National Historical Park.
