These two notebooks were used by Leroy E. Briggs, Zachariah P. Halpin, and A. L. Townsend in 1914 for experiments on miner's safety lamps. The books describe work with batteries, brass reflectors, bulbs, and other parts of the lamp. Also included are designs for new lamp fixtures and tests of candle power with various lamps. Some of the entries pertain to the testing of locomotive headlights. Related material can be found in Kinetophone and Kinetoscope Experiments -- L. E.
