These thirteen notebooks were used during the years 1911-1920 by numerous experimenters, including Peter C. Christensen, William Walter Dinwiddie, Charles Edison, H. F. M. Graumann, Zachariah P. Halpin, William A. Hayes, Miller Reese Hutchison, Paul S. Laverty, Frederick P. Ott, Edwin Smith, Jr., Harold H. Smith, and Henry Trask. The books often contain notes by one main experimenter whose work covers numerous technologies. There are entries pertaining to primary and storage batteries including automobile batteries, the expansion of gas from batteries in submarines, and chemicals used in batteries and for other purposes. In addition, there are notes on Ediphones, disc record composition and manufacture, microphones and loud reproducers, diamond point roughing, the home projecting kinetoscope, light bulb design, insulation for wires, generators, alternating and direct current, and nickel ore processing.
