The correspondence, letters of recommendation, and other documents in this file cover the years 1879-1884. Most of the items relate to Acheson's service in Europe, first at the Paris Electrical Exhibition (1881) and later as an engineering consultant to the European Edison companies. Also included are documents pertaining to Acheson's arrival at Menlo Park and his work there on carbon in 1880 and 1884. The correspondents include Edison, Charles Batchelor, Joshua F.
