These documents, which cover the years 1878-1883 and 1889, relate to Theodore Puskas, an Hungarian entrepreneur and inventor who promoted Edison's telephone and phonograph in Continental Europe during the 1870s and 1880s. Included are numerous letters from Edison to Puskas concerning patent matters and promotional campaigns for Edison's inventions. Other correspondents include Puskas's business partner Cornelius Roosevelt, who was involved in marketing phonographs in France and its colonies.
