AIEE [electrical], and AIChE [chemical], it was a founding member of the United Engineering Society (UES), established in 1904 provide a united home for the major engineering societies of the day. The Engineering Societies Building at 29 West 39th Street in New York City, the first such home, was completed in 1906.
