Chicago. This company was founded by George Bliss in opposition to Western Union (see Theodore Vail to W. H. Forbes, 4/14/78). The first letter with this company\'s letterhead dates from 3/31/79. According to the letterhead, Bliss was president and business manager and W. H. Harrington was secretary-treasurer. By 1882, L. G. Tillotson is president, with Bliss remaining as business manager.
